Laguna Esmeralda Trekking
Connect with nature in its purest state, in the heart of the end of the world.
Service Description
Embark on a hike to one of Ushuaia's most captivating landscapes: Laguna Esmeralda, a glacial lake surrounded by the Fuegian Andes and Patagonian forests that seem frozen in time. The adventure begins with a transfer along National Route 3, part of the legendary Pan-American Highway, where the trail starts. In just a few minutes, you'll be immersed in a wild natural environment: lenga forests, peat bogs, and rivers fed by snowmelt. The trail follows the Emerald River, where you'll see beaver dams, and continues ascending into wide hanging valleys with panoramic views of the Sierra Alvear mountain range. After approximately two hours of hiking, your effort is rewarded with the first glimpse of the lake: its jade-green hues contrast with the snow-capped mountains that surround it, creating a dreamlike landscape. There, you'll enjoy a well-deserved rest with a snack and a hot drink, breathing in the pure Fuegian air. The descent follows an alternative route, trailing along the river. It's the perfect opportunity to completely disconnect, leave the noise of the world behind, and experience the profound silence of the southern wilderness. Lasting 4 to 5 hours and with a low to moderate difficulty level, this trek is ideal for those seeking an active experience without requiring extensive physical training. Experts will guide you, ensuring the group's safety and respect for the environment. Includes: transportation, a specialized guide, trekking poles, a snack, and a hot beverage. Recommended items to bring: trekking boots, warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, gloves, a hat, a medium-sized backpack, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. This activity is available year-round, although terrain conditions may vary: damp ground, roots, mud, and steep slopes are part of the natural challenge of the Fuegian forest. Note: The excursion may be modified or canceled due to weather or safety reasons, at the guide's discretion. It is not suitable for people without regular physical activity. Discover why Emerald Lagoon is one of Tierra del Fuego's most visited gems, and be amazed by the unique energy of the true end of the world. Minimum age: 8 years
